Boys Varsity Baseball · Senior Spotlight for Baseball: Owen Newman

Owen Newman is a senior pitcher and infielder for the 2020 Bulldog Baseball team.  Owen is a two year letter winner and has been a part of the Bulldog Baseball Program for 6 years.  Last season as a Junior, Newman emerged as a vital part of the Camden pitching staff.  He was 3-0 with an ERA of 2.38 in 32 1/3 innings pitched.  He was primarily used as a relief pitcher throughout most of the season; however, he came up huge in the playoffs posting two victories.  He threw a complete game shutout over Carolina in the 2nd game of the playoffs and also was the winning pitcher in game 4 against Emerald. The Dogs had to beat Emerald twice in one night at Emerald in order to win the District.  Newman has started two games so far this season and had pitched well in those two games.  Owen is hoping to continue his baseball career by walking on to a small college team.  He has been getting some interest from a couple of junior colleges.
