The Bulldogs beat the Yellow Jackets of Union County 42-27 on Friday night. Camden was led by running backs Mikah Davis and Willis Lane. Davis finished the night accounting for five touchdowns scored (3 rushing, 2 receiving) on 142 all-purpose yards. Lane rushed the ball 25 times for 221 yards. QB Jaffari Pearson completed 13-18 passes for 175 yards, 3 TD, 1 Int. WR Davea Cauthen out-leaped up with a 26 yard reception on 4th down in the 4th quarter for the Bulldogs other touchdown.
The defense forced key turnovers and came up with timely stops to limit the high-powered Union County offense to three scores. DB James Crim forced for first turnover with his first quarter interception. In the fourth quarter DB Joseph Byrnes forced a fumble after a Yellow Jacket reception while DB Zyreek Fowler recovered the fumble. DE John Copley recorded two sacks. The defense also had a crucial fourth down stop inside the 10 yard line on Union County’s last possession.
Camden will play at Chapman High School in the AAA Upper State Finals next Friday, November 29 at 7:30pm.
